BumpTop 3D desktop acquired by Google

May 3rd, 2010 Pete Wood

imageYou may not have heard of BumpTop previously, but now Google have acquired it you’re sure to hear lots more about it.  With everyone jumping on the 3D band-wagon,  it won’t be too long before 3D desktops become the defacto standard.  With this great Windows and Mac add-on, Bumptop turns your desktop into a room were you can stick almost anything on the walls, and rotate the room using your mouse.

imageBumpTop has crafted a revolutionary “Minority-Reports”-type UI which allows you to drag apps around the desktop using your finger, and literally pin anything to any of the walls, and floor space. And you don’t even need the gloves.

With the acquisition of BumpTop now by Google this week, we can’t wait to see whether there will be some interesting new additions to Google’s Android and Chrome operating systems.

In the meantime, you can watch a BumpTop demonstration of the the amazing 3D multi-touch desktop below and download it for yourself.

Until Google remove it from the web servers, you can download BumpTop here.
